Misora Hibari is the most popular singer in Japan. She made her debut at the age of nine. Her biggest hit “Yawara” sold one-million, eight-hundred-thousand copies. Hibari was also a big name actress. Just before her death at the age of 52, she held a concert at Tokyo Dome. She sang 39 songs for three straight hours. Fifty-thousand fans were deeply impressed by her last performance. Hibari is the first woman winner of the People’s Honor Award.
